What happens during confirmation, and why do we have it?
Confirmation is a time for people in the Lutheran Church to affirm the promises made on their behalf at their baptisms. These promises include living among God's faithful people, hearing the word of God and sharing in the Lord's Supper, proclaiming the good news of God in Jesus Christ in word and deed, serving all people, following the example of Jesus, and striving for justice and peace in all the earth.
Classes begin in seventh grade and continue through ninth grade. Groups are lead by one or two adults on their continuing faith journeys. Confirmands study scripture, participate in service projects, attend confirmation camp and a retreat, and do many other activities over three years to become stronger in their faith and participate more in church and Christian life.
If you are interested in enrolling your child in confirmation, or would like to lead a confirmation group, please contact Pastor Deb at 307-682-4509.
